Want to work for Press Street Gardens? We’re looking for a Program Manager to oversee workshops and other offerings.

Press Street Gardens is a half-acre food-production and teaching garden that’s run by The NOCCA Institute and serves NOCCA students, faculty, and the general public. Garden features include a vegetable and herb garden, a greenhouse and preparation area, a garden of native Louisiana plants, and a small number of goats and chickens. There’s also a large courtyard and a greenspace, both of which function as outdoor classrooms and social spaces. Adjacent lots contain a fruit orchard and beds where NOCCA students conduct agricultural experiments using material from their science and humanities classes.

Working in collaboration with Institute staff, the Program Manager will develop and implement workshops, master classes, and other programs for NOCCA students, faculty, and the general public. The schedule of activities should include an average of two events per month. These offerings should cover a range of topics including but not limited to gardening, cooking, nutrition, food justice, and the arts. The Program Manager is encouraged to build partnerships with schools and other organizations throughout the region to create unique programs that benefit both Press Street Gardens and partner groups. The Program Manager will not be responsible for day-to-day management of Press Street Gardens, which is overseen by existing staff.

Candidates should have experience in gardening, budget management and revenue generation, community development, and education. Preferred candidates will have prior teaching experience; a degree or training in nutrition, horticulture, and/or environmental sciences; and a master gardener certificate.

This is currently designed as a year-round, part-time, contracted position with The NOCCA Institute. Fee is commensurate with experience.

Please submit a cover letter, resume, and references by September 1, 2017 to jobs@noccainstitute.com with the subject line “Press Street Gardens Program Manager”.
