Press Street Gardens is an urban farm and outdoor learning lab funded by The NOCCA Institute, the nonprofit partner of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. We’re located on New Orleans’ historic Press Street, where the Faubourg Marigny meets the Bywater.
We grow fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs, which are used by NOCCA’s Culinary Arts students in their classroom training. We also help NOCCA faculty incorporate the Gardens into their arts, science, humanities, and health education lessons.
For the public, we offer an exciting urban green space for workshops, meetings, and other activities. Through these events, we hope to educate participants about topics ranging from proper gardening techniques, nutrition, and personal well-being to wetlands restoration and environmental stewardship.
Want to volunteer with us? Our volunteer hours are currently Tuesday mornings from 9am to noon. If you’d like to volunteer, just drop by then–there’s always plenty to do.
If you’d like to volunteer at a different time, or if you’d like to bring a group to help with a special project, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Press Street Gardens is a project of The NOCCA Institute, with lead support from Trafigura Foundation and blue moon fund. Proceeds from Press Street Gardens support a broad range of programs for NOCCA students, faculty, and the community. You can take a virtual tour of the Gardens below.
